As I was craving for sushi or anything related to Japanese cuisine so badly ‘till I can’t help it anymore, my friend suggested Zuma to me. So I booked a table by phone and my friend and I drove, well more like my friend was the one who drive all the time (me no license) and I was the navigator, to Miami from Key Largo (If you’re in Florida you will understand the sacrifice and energy we spent on road and GPS). Finally, we arrived at Epic Hotel, Miami Downtown, where the Zuma restaurant hidden inside.
We were on time, and by on time I mean 5-10 minutes late because we were wandering around the rooftop bar, Area 31, also inside the Epic Hotel and, by the way, has an amazing view. I went straightaway to the hostess and hoping the table was ready for us and this hostess was an agony (or in our modern language pain-in-the-@$$). She made us waited for almost an hour! We were starving and we booked a table and we saw people coming in and out the restaurant, there must be at least one table for two! After lingering around the bar with only my friend who ordered a bellini and nada for me (being underage is dreadful), finally they called us and we were sat at the patio near the river with lots of yachts parked.
My very own tradition eating in Japanese Restaurant is to order Salmon Sashimi, a must no matter what. I also ordered Salmon & Tuna Tartare and I swear I will choke this dish to everyone’s throat just to let everyone know it’s so freaking delicious, the perfect appetiser. My friend ordered Shrimp Tempura and Salmon Avocado Roll, which if I’m not wrong you can customise your own sushi roll with each ingredient has their own price. As for the main course, it was Black Cod for me and to be honest, it wasn’t as good as the one in Nobu (sorry Zuma I still love you!). But hey, that Tartare was heaven on earth for sure!
