Childhood Memories in Puncak

September 20, 2017

I promised to post every week but I recently went to Sumatra, Indonesia and took a lot of pictures there. I guess the upcoming blog posts will be more about Indonesia, my beloved country. Right now, I will talk about Puncak. If you’re Indonesian you probably know Puncak (especially the ones that live in the West Java, Jakarta, Bogor). I can associate Puncak with so many words like childhood, holiday, relax, and many more. I spent most of my weekends and holidays in a villa in Puncak. Let’s just say that Puncak will always, always hold a special corner in my heart and mind.

Usually, people rent a villa for a weekend or hotel in Puncak. My parents apparently love Puncak and build a family villa with the most amazing view in Cibodas (part of Puncak). Also recently, I discovered a sort of flower farm that I’ve been coming back to from time to time. The flower farm is where I pick my flowers (they mostly only have Gerbera) since Puncak weather and altitude is good for farming (I think).

The area of Cibodas in Puncak is also where Kebun Raya Cibodas is. Kebun Raya means Botanical Garden. If you really want to see sakura blooming, you can go to Kebun Raya Cibodas <3 but again depending on the seasonality. Other than that, you can see a small waterfall, ancient and big trees and the most amazing view from there. Kebun Raya Cibodas is also near the Gunung Gede (Mount Gede or Big Mountain). You can hike in Gunung Gede but you probably need to hire a guide.

Another place that I love from Puncak is the food, which is Sundanese. Sundanese food is literally my life. I can eat it everyday, every meal and for my whole life. Sundanese food that I personally like is nasi liwet (liwet rice). Of course, ayam goreng (fried chicken) is everyone favorite that comes with lalapan (vegetables to be eaten together with the rice and chicken) and sate maranggi. I’m not sure if Sundanese food is exactly from Puncak. All Indonesian food influence each other and even from other country, culture. But when I’m in Puncak, I always eat Sundanese food.

P.s.: Sorry (not sorry) if some of the pictures’ colors seems unreal and the awkward poses. I’ve been using Lightroom and loving it hahaha. And for the awkward pose, it’s unfixable 😀 I’m no model anyway. Hope you enjoy this short post 🙂 Go to Indonesia to see more of Indonesia-related post.

Oh my God have you been to ‘The Secret Garden’?! (The second picture killed me!) And no, you don’t look awkward, rather, you look cute in that yellowish frock of yours. Why do I always see your posts RIGHT BEFORE I EAT FOOD? The pictures make my heart wobble xD I’m glad you got to go to your childhood place. It’s the best feeling ever, isn’t it? <3
