City Park in Budapest

March 22, 2017

Going to Szechenyi Thermal Bath during your trip in Budapest? Then you should visit City Park of Budapest too, just because it’s on the way to the thermal bath. Talking about killing two birds with one stone. It may not be as big as Central Park, but City Park in Budapest have not only thermal bath, but also a zoo and a castle!

I have seen castles (mostly Disney castles) but nothing like Vajdahunyad Castle. My very reliable sources, Google and Wikipedia, said that the architectural of the castles contain Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque. So many things going on but it is truly a beauty. It was built as part of the millennial exhibition and to capture the several parts of Hungary landmark. Inside, it is a Museum of Hungarian Agriculture. Entering the area of Vajdahunyad Castle is free, but going inside the Museum of Hungarian Agriculture you need to pay and if you want to go to the rooftop of one of the building (the one near the entrance) you also need to pay (it’s also where the toilet is).

One of the thing that kinda creeps me out is the Anonymus Statue. Even after searching about the statue, I’m still not sure what is it about. Someone about Gallus Anonymus being a writer or something. For me, it seems like a grim reaper, tired from his job and taking a small break from it. Or maybe he’s just sitting in his throne or sofa in his palace (or house), chilling.

Szechenyi Thermal Bath

The famous Szechenyi Thermal Bath can be found inside the City Park of Budapest. It is one of the largest medicinal bath in Europe. I didn’t go try the thermal bath (sad face) and it was raining that day. But it gives me more reason to come back to Budapest, to try the thermal bath. This place is not the only thermal bath in Budapest but certainly one of the famous. If you got a chance and it’s a nice weather, give it a try!

To go to the City Park, it’s pretty easy. It’s just across the Heroes Square and you can get here by the metro as well.
