Ciao Milano

Duomo di Milano

If you read my previous post, you know that I went to Expo Milano 2015 and decided to visit Milano as well. The location of Expo Milano and Milano city centre is not far and accessible by metro (around 20 minutes).

Milan Duomo

First thing I see after exiting the metro is the marvellous Duomo di Milano (Milan Cathedral). That day, there was a big concert in front of the cathedral. I don’t know what’s the occasion, but it was cool to see and hear. Sometimes I can believe my eyes from seeing such a beautiful architecture that is full of history.

Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is just right next to the Duomo. Most of you probably already know that it’s a place for shopping. Even though you don’t want to shop, it is a must-to-see spot in Milan and take pictures of the beautiful interior. There was a parade of Expo Milano in Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II with them wearing traditional costumes of their countries.

After a long walk and window shopping around Milan, I went to one of the most popular places to eat in Milan, Panzerotti Luini. To be honest, I never heard about panzerotti before and curious why most of the people in Milan eating this doughnut-look-a-like. It was a long queue, but it’s not as long as Expo Milano and pretty fast.

Panzerotti Luini

I realized that Panzerotti Luini is very, very popular when there’s a security guy with a suit telling me not to take pictures inside of the Panzerotti Luini. It is like a fast food with super quick service where you just buy, and then you go out on the small street (where Panzerotti Luini located) and eat there. My first bite felt like a normal fried dough. My second bite, oh my gosh, I lost words. I ordered panzerotti prosciutto with mozzarella, and I changed my mind. Nutella Tiramisu might be the delicious dessert, but this panzerotti is just one of the greatest thing Italian ever made (after pizza and pasta, of course, tiramisu will be the fourth after panzerotti). I don’t know how to really describe it, but it’s like a doughnut with ham and cheese inside.
