Autumn in Lucerne

Kapellbrucke in Lucerne

It’s snowing in Switzerland right now. Goodbye autumn, hello winter. Autumn has always been my favorite season (and spring!). It’s the vibe of autumn that makes me feel cozy and warm. Brown is the warmest color. One of the places I went during autumn this year is Lucerne. Lucerne is very famous for the bridge, Kapellbrücke, and the lion monument. I got the chance to visit both and I had a wonderful time in Lucerne.

The distance from the bridge to the lion monument is not really far by foot. While sightseeing the city, by foot seems the best way to do it. The lion monument is simply the most magnificent statue that I’ve ever seen. Even Mark Twain said it’s “the saddest and most moving piece of rock in the world.” With the leaves are falling from the trees, it deepens the feeling of morose.

I decided to go to Church of St. Leodegar, several blocks from the lion monument. After visiting quite an amount of church this year, I started to feel there’s nothing different from one to another. It’s still worth to visit, though. Then I went to the lake and walked along the side. There were competitions held in the lake banks. I’m not sure about the name of the game, but I think it’s the french game, petanque. I’m also not sure about the rules, but it seems like you will throw boules (the ball) and whether you can hit the farthest or hit other opponents (again, I’m not so sure). Walking along the lake is one of my favorite, there were swans approaching people with bread (nice move, swans).
